4-year-old Instagram influencer Amber has Beautiful Wavy Hair

This week’s Curl Type of the Week feature, we interviewed lovely and adorable, 4-year-old Instagram influencer, Amber, who has wavy hair. Here are her responses to some of our questions concerning her lifestyle, curly hair, and helpful tips on how to manage curly hair based on her own experience, that can then be passed on for other curly haired boys and girls to apply to their own hair:

1) Introduce yourself! What is your age, grade, favorite books, movies, favorite quote, song? What is her favorite school subject? What is her favorite activity? Her favorite thing to do in her free time?

Hi there! My name is Amber and I am 4 years old. One of my favorite movies at the moment is Disney’s Frozen. I really like this movie because I am passionate about Elsa and Ana, the two main characters of the movie. Some of my favorite things that I like to do when I am in school is to paint a lot and to sing songs with my friends. When I get home from school, one of my favorite things I like to do is take a lot of pictures with my mom, because modeling is another passion of mine that I like to do during my free time!

2) Your curls! What is your hair curl type? If you don’t know, please check out our reference page here.

I would say that my hair curl type is the 2A wavy type. I adore my wavy hair because immediately after washing them, they always take on this beautiful shape and I just like how they look so much! Everyone is always so amazed by my wavy hair and I always get a lot of compliments for my curly hair from other people!

3. Who else in your family has curly hair? Check out our family tree here which is a fun and educational way to trace the legacy of your hair!

I am not the only one in my family with curly hair! Some of the other people in my family that have curly hair like me are my mom and my grandma. I consider myself very lucky to have inherited these beautiful curls from them!

4)  How do you like to wear your hair?

The way I like to wear my hair is by having my curls at the end, but I also like to put my curly hair in two ponytails. That has to be my favorite hairstyle at the moment.

5) How would you define your style?  (ie, are you a dress up girl, more casual, love to be fancy etc.  What is your favorite style for school, for dressing up, for each season, etc.

I am a girl who likes to dress nicely. When I am at school, the clothes that I like to wear are more the sporty type compared to what I usually wear at home because not only do I think it looks nice, but I also feel more comfortable wearing them at school! During the holidays, I like to wear dresses because they make me look and feel so pretty in them!

5) Hair care tips!  What are some hair care tips you can share for taking care of your curly hair?

One hair care tip I can recommend for helping other kids take care of their soft and beautiful curly hair is to wash it with a special shampoo made for their curly hair. Another curly hair care tip I can suggest is to comb your hair after washing it as well.

6) What do you wash and condition your hair with?

To tell you the truth, I do not just use one type of shampoo. I have different types of shampoo that I use from time to time, and I use them to wash and condition my hair 2 to 3 times a week.

7) How often do you wash your hair and why?

I wash my hair as often as more than 2 times a week. On some very rare occasions, I would wash my hair as frequent as 3 times a week. I like to wash my hair this often so that I can have my curls cleaner and more beautiful that way!

8) Are you a morning hair washer or an evening washer, why?

I usually like to wash my hair more often in the evening than in the morning because I just prefer to wash it in the evening. I think it is because I find it more convenient and relaxing to wash my hair at night.

9) If you do your hair at night and sleep on it, what do you do in the morning?

After I wash my hair in the night time, I dry my curly hair right after getting out of the shower. I never ever leave them dripping wet. Drying my hair after washing it is really beneficial and important because when I wake up in the morning I have curls with a very beautiful shape.

10) Has curly hair impacted your child and her self-image, please provide details on her “hair journey.” Did she always love her hair or was it something that happened over time?

Ever since I was a much younger girl, I had curly hair but I did not know the importance of these curls. Over time, now that I have grown, I have grown to like my curly hair very much and everyone who knows me often compliments me on my hair.

Thanks for giving me a chance to work and speak with you. I hope you like my history and find this information useful for other curly headed kids around the world.
