These Curly Hair Siblings Love Their Curls!

In this week’s feature, we have 3 curly hair siblings as social media influencers, Nakai, Phoenix and Lianella as our Curlee Siblings of the Week! Although they are young, their mother has shared so many wonderful things about them. Below, you will find their mother’s answers to the set of questions we provided to give insight into what Nakai, Phoenix and Lianella love to do in their free time as well as what they are interested in, how their mother manages her kids’ curly hair, and some curly hair management tips their mom recommends. These tips can be passed on to other curly haired boys and girls, as well as their parents who take care of their hair, around the world that struggle with their beautiful head of curls and seek guidance on how to better manage them.

1) Introduce yourself!  What is your age, grade, favorite books, movies, favorite quote, song? What is her favorite school subject? Favorite activity? Favorite thing to do in her free time?

Our Curlee Siblings of the Week are Nakai, Phoenix and Lianella and they are three year old triplets! Their favorite book to read is Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin. In terms of movies, they love watching all things Disney and superheroes related! In terms of activities, the triplets love to sing, swim, and dance like ballerinas! Sounds like a super fun crew to be around!

2) Your curls! What is your hair curl type? If you don’t know, please check out our reference page here

The triplets’ mom says that they all have type 4 hair, somewhere between 4A and 4B, based on our curly hair reference chart.

3) Who else in your family has curly hair? Check out our family tree here which is a fun and educational way to trace the legacy of your hair!

If all 3 triplets have curly hair, it definitely makes sense that they got it directly from their parents! Their mom says that the kids’ father has type 4C hair as well as their dad’s family. Also, their mom has 2B hair. Having immediate access to curly haired family members can increase your child’s confidence in their own curly hair! Given that the triplets also have similar hair types, they all can help each other out as they grow older! We love a curly haired family!

4)  How do you like to wear your hair?

The triplets like to wear their hair in two puffs or braids but they say that it hurts to brush it out!

5) How would you define your style?  (ie, are you a dress up girl, more casual, love to be fancy etc.  What is your favorite style for school, for dressing up, for each season, etc.

In terms of hair style, their mom loves to put their hair in lots of different hair styles but they like to wear it naturally.

6) Hair care tips!  What are some hair care tips you can share for taking care of your curly hair? Best advice for kids with curly hair?

Their mom uses so many products on the triplets’ hair. Detanglers are so important and their mom recommends to never brush dry hair. Every day their mom is putting in some type of product to both moisturize and maintain their curly hair. If their hair isn’t looked after it can become very hard to manage so just a few minutes a day helps to keep it soft.

7) What do you wash and condition your hair with? How often?

The triplets wash their curly hair once per week and condition only once a week. But every day they apply some type of moisturizer to their hair.

8) How often do you wash your hair and why?

The triplets only wash their hair only once per week because it becomes so dry so quickly. They like to overly condition their hair to keep their curls fresh.

9) Are you a morning hair washer or an evening washer, why?

The triplets are evening hair washers just because it is easier but day time would be better so it can air dry.

10) If you do your hair at night and sleep on it, what do you do in the morning? Any tips for making the style last overnight?

The triplets like to wear silk caps. They help maintain the moisture but they still have to comb it out in the morning.

11) Has curly hair impacted your child and her self-image, please provide details on her “hair journey”.  Did she always love her hair or was it something that happened over time?

The triplets love their hair. They have always been told that their curls give them super powers! Their hair is only part of the beauty and characteristics that define them but they are proud. They love swinging their beautiful braids and embracing their curls. Everyone loves to touch the curls but we have voices to say”no thank you”. As a mom I have been asked if they are wearing wigs!!! And all the time how I manage their hair but the kids think it’s a special thing about them.

11) Have you read our Curlee Girlee book series? If not get your copy by clicking here. Our Curlee Girlee books were written to ensure that all curly girls belong to our Curlee Girlee family and learn to love and embrace their curls understanding that their hair is part of a greater legacy they share with those who came before them and will one day share with those who come after.

I haven’t yet but definitely will look into getting a copy!!
