Question: Is There A Way To Blow Dry Curly Hair?

Ok so let’s discuss is there a way to blow dry curly hair??? First of all, let’s talk about curls. Curls love hydration—they can’t get enough. If you hydrate your curls, your curls will love you. So how do you do that? First, you want to make sure you wash your hair with a really good shampoo—something that has keratin, collagen, biotin, is sodium and sulfate-free. And then you want to use a really good conditioner. Something that doesn’t have a lot of silicon in it, something that’s going to hydrate the curls, but not weigh them down. The key to conditioning curly hair is when you rinse the conditioner out, you really just kind of want to rinse the hairline above your forehead and then squeegee that water through. That’s going to leave about 50 to 60% of the conditioner in your hair. That’s step one. Leave that in, get out of the shower, and towel dry your hair. Flip your head upside down and shake those curls to let them get that natural formation. When you flip your hair back, you want to add more conditioner, but you want a leave-in. Then you want to add another hydration product—something that curls will love. I’ll recommend those at the end.

Okay, let’s move on to blow-drying. Is There A Way To Blow Dry Curly Hair? What curls don’t like are your fingers. Curls don’t like fingers. What they do like is t-shirts. So, if you have an old t-shirt, I recommend ripping a nice big square off of that t-shirt or cutting it and cover your hand with the t-shirt. Then you want to tilt your head to the side and push the curls close to your head while squeezing with the t-shirt. Yes, you can use a blow dryer on medium speed, medium heat. That’s the 1980’s word for scrunching your hair. Continue going side to side, working each side, working each side, and don’t over-dry it. When it’s about 20% damp, you can start adding a nice, flexible-hold hairspray. Don’t over-dry it. You can do a little bit more with the hairspray, and then let your hair show off. Let your curls be the curls, and let nature do the rest.

As far as products, I’m going to recommend the Martino by Martino Cartier because all the products have biotin, keratin, SPF, and they have such amazing hydration. We use papyrus milk, we use rose attar, which is an astringent to keep your pores clean and also keep that hair from being weighed down. And then again, you have biotin and caffeine to wake up the scalp. The entire line that I mentioned has this. You want to use the shampoo, the conditioner, you want to use the leave-in conditioner, in the Jewels of the Nile collection, which we can talk about another time. And then you also want to use the Turbo spray. The Turbo spray is a two-phase product that when you mix it together, it adds humectants to the hair, which is a moisturizer, and it also forces the water out of the hair, which allows the hair to dry. It’s like two magnets that can’t touch on the opposite side, that’s how it works with the water. Think of how oil and vinegar don’t mix. Well, Turbo spray and water don’t mix.

So by filling that hair with hydration, not over-drying it, not using your fingers and using a t-shirt, you’re going to have the best curls you’ve ever had in your life, and I can’t wait to see a picture!

Can you blow-dry curly hair- yes! but should you?? Well, maybe your best off letting your curly hair -air dry!!
