Summer Rose Has Ginger Curly Hair

In this week’s Curl Type of the Week feature, we interviewed a beautiful and fun, 8 year old Instagram influencer, Summer Rose, who has ginger curly hair! Here are her mother’s responses to some of our questions concerning Summer Rose’s lifestyle, curly hair, and helpful tips on how to manage curly hair based on her own experience, that can then be passed on for other curly haired boys and girls to apply to their own hair:

1) Introduce yourself! What is your age, grade, favorite books, movies, favorite quote, song? What is her favorite school subject? What is her favorite activity? What is her favorite thing to do in her free time?

Curl Type of the Week is Miss Summer Rose Morley! She is an eight-year-old social media influencer, whose favorite movie to watch on television is Castaway starring famous actor, Tom Hanks. Summer Rose’s favorite subjects in elementary school are math and art! Her favorite artist to listen to at the moment is the famous boyband, One Direction.

2) Your curls! What is your hair curl type? If you don’t know, please check out our reference page here.

Summer Rose’s mom says that her daughter’s curly hair type is a Coily 3c.

3. Who else in your family has curly hair? Check out our family tree here which is a fun and educational way to trace the legacy of your hair!

Summer Rose’s mom says that her daughter caught the curly hair trait from her side of the family. Summer Rose’s grandad on her mum’s side says he had curly hair when he was younger. However, as Summer Rose says, he is bald now! Summer Rose’s mum has curly hair but she says that she has ruined it by straightening. On the bright side, she says that she is trying to get it to become curly again! We believe you can do it, mom!

4)  How do you like to wear your hair?

When she is in school, Summer Rose either wears her ginger curly hair in pigtails or puts it in a messy bun. However, her mother says that on the weekend, Summer Rose likes to wear it down, especially because she loves how her curls look!

5) How would you define your style?  (ie, are you a dress up girl, more casual, love to be fancy etc.  What is your favorite style for school, for dressing up, for each season, etc.

Summer Rose’s mom says that her daughter likes to wear baggy jeans and crop t-shirts. She likes to copy her sister’s fashion style so she thinks her style is pretty cool! That’s what siblings are for: to give fashion advice!

6) Hair care tips!  What are some hair care tips you can share for taking care of your curly hair?

One hair care tip Summer Rose’s mom recommends for helping other kids take care of their curly hair is to use an old t-shirt right after washing your child’s curly hair. This really helps absorb all of the water from your child’s curly hair, and Summer Rose’s mom believes it is the quickest way to dry her daughter’s hair. This way Summer Rose’s hair is dry enough so that she can wear it in a messy bun before she goes to bed!

7) What do you wash and condition your hair with?

Summer Rose’s mom says that she likes to wash her daughter’s hair with  “Umberto Gianni Curly Jelly” and with the “Trepadora” products. She also likes to condition her daughter’s hair with the “Faith in Nature conditioner.” Her mom says that they love to follow the curly hair method!

8) How often do you wash your hair and why?

Summer Rose’s mom washes her daughter’s curly hair once a week. She says that she uses a spray bottle with conditioner in it to put on Summer Rose’s hair every day. If she does not do this, she says that her daughter’s hair will often get knotty. It is very important to keep your child’s curly hair moisturized to prevent knots from forming, for both their’s and your own sake!

9) Are you a morning hair washer or an evening washer, why?

Summer Rose’s washing schedule differs depending on the time of the week. Her mom says that she washes her hair during the evening in the week and washes her hair in the morning during the weekend.

10) If you do your hair at night and sleep on it, what do you do in the morning?

Summer Rose is one of those girls who likes to do her hair at night and sleep on it. Her mother says that Summer Rose’s morning hair routine consists of using a vapor spray bottle with conditioner in it to moisturize her curls in the morning. She also has a happy hairbrush to brush through her daughter’s beautiful curls safely! We just love that condition and brushing combination!

11) Has curly hair impacted your child and her self-image, please provide details on her “hair journey”.  Did she always love her hair or was it something that happened over time?

Summer Rose’s mom has always made sure that her daughter embraces her curly hair. Luckily, she says that Summer Rose gets so much attention from her gorgeous curly hair that she has never even thought about straightening it! Like all curly haired kids, Summer Rose hates the knots but she knows how lucky she is to have the hair she has on her head! She is very lucky indeed!
